“Off the beaten track” trek in the far west wilderness of Nepal
Nepal’s largest Lake “Rara” is most incredible and fascinating trekking destination in the Himalayan range. Rara is located far northwest of Kathmandu in the remote Karnali region at an altitude of 2,990 meters. Rara Lake Trekking is an ideal choice of wilderness traveler who likes to explore remote Nepalese rural life hood and natural beautify and Rara lake itself. It is surrounded by alpine meadows and forests, verities wield animals, un-spoilt culture, whilst in the background you can view the magnificent snow-capped peaks.
Spread five kilometers long and two kilometers wide Rara Lake is a popular sere of Hindu and Buddhist. This is considered one of the finest parks in the world; Rara National Park thrives in coniferous forest and is the ideal habitat for the Musk Deer, Leopards, Ghorals, Wild Boar, Rhesus and Languor Monkeys, Tahr, Himalayan Black Bear and the rare Red Panda. The Danfe (Impeyan Pheasant) is national bird of Nepal. It flies above the tranquil Rara Lake while a variety of fishes, the snow trout moving here and there. People of here are kind open-hearted and friendly, you may talk with them with some English words and their tradition has been dragging from centauries relatively unexplored and provide the glimpses of typical village cultures and their rustic way of life. Rara Trek begins in Jumla fly over an hour from Kathmandu or short scenic flight from the Nepalgunj depends on schedule. The trail follows the remote countryside of far northwest of Nepal through the off the beaten trail and affords glimpses of culture and scenery very different from those in the rest of the country. Along mountain paths and a series of picturesque villages, one reaches the magnificent banks of Rara Lake. The park includes Trans- Himalayan valley with high ridges covered with forest and alpine pastures. You have superb views over Mugu, the southern mountains of Humla and Tibet border. Then the route involves the crossing of Ghurchi Lagna Pass at 3450m on the way to Rara Lake and a few ridges at around 3000 meters when hiking on the way back to Jumla. You walk through grassy alpine pastures and remote villages, before descending steeply off the second pass to Jumla. From here, we fly back to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj.
Rara Lake Trekking can be organizing only camping (Tented Camp), where you will sleep in tents. Our staffs include a guide, cook, Sherpa and require porters to carry all trekking gear. Even if you have never camped before, there is no need to worry that you won’t enjoy the experience. Day 13: Fly from Jumla to Kathmandu with brief stop at Nepalgunj

Note: Some time we could face problem due to flight delayed by few hours or cancelled for a day because of bad weather or road traffic. It is happen very rarely, but it could even in best trekking season also as you know how climate change is effecting our globe and the mountain weather is un predicable. Therefore, we always recommend you to add one supplement night in Kathmandu after your trek if possible (just for incase). If everything runs smoothly, you can enjoy other activities like sightseeing, rafting, shopping, as you wish.
