Nepal Trekking Season

“Nepal for All Session”, this slogan trying to proved, Nepal is suitable for touristic activities whole in the years around. We have manly four different session in year Spring Trekking Season (March-May), Monsoon /summer (June-July-August-September), Autumn (Mid- September to early December), Winter (December- February).

Generally spring (March – May) and Autumn (September – November) are the two season considered to be trekking seasons in Nepal. But most consider the best trekking season in the Himalayas to be September to mid-December. During this season Nepal has a pleasant climate, neither too hot nor too cold and clear mountain views. The warm days make this season favorable for outdoor activities, trekking, touring, and expeditions. During the winter you can do short and easy trek in low elevation. The spring season is another great season for the trekking. After winter, when sun getting warmer in the spring time, many trekkers head to the Himalayas to enjoy a comfortable climate. In spring many different types of flowers bloom both on trees and the ground, especially Rhododendron and Magnolia. That’s why the spring trekking season is also known as rhododendron trekking. Spring season is the best time for mountaineering, any peak climbing, and other expedition in Nepal.

In the winter trekking season we provide short and easy treks around the countryside areas of Nepal, which offer a glimpse into the culture of Nepal and the lives of Nepalese people who live in remote area. Winter is very cold above 4,000m and high mountain passes may be snowbound so it is preferable to trek at lower altitudes. The monsoon seasons (June, July, and August) are better for short treks. During the monsoon season you can go trekking in the rain-shadow areas north of the Himalayan like Mustang, upper Manang and Dolpo. These places are out of reach of the rain clouds because of the high mountains and are unaffected by the monsoon. During the monsoon in Nepal it is also recommended to travel in Tibet (May to September).

Here are main trekking seasions:

[I] Autumn: the Best Trekking Season in Nepal (Mid- September to early December)

This is the one of best trekking season in Nepal due to the clear skies, incredible fine weather, and tantalizing mountain views. Autumn season begins from the middle of September to late November. You can do any kind of outdoor activities and adventure treks in areas such as Dhulagiri, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Kanchanjunga high passes, and other teahouse treks. During autumn, the whole country changes from a lush, verdant green into the harvest colors. Sometime there is perpetual high cloud and less than crystal clear skies. In the low land evenings are balmy while in the middle hills they are pleasantly chilly. Above the tree line (4000m) nights are sharp and below freezing and early morning sun is particularly welcomed. Nepal Mother House Treks offers trekking to any part of Nepal and expedition to any climbing peaks during autumn. The temperatures are moderate, making it a best time for any trek or rafting, tours. Since most people plane to go trekking during this season, so we advise you to make early reservations.

[II] Spring Trekking Season in Nepal (March-April-May)

This is the second biggest trekking season in Nepal. It is definitely less crowded but still a great time to do trekking in Himalaya. Spring offers varieties of wild flowers blossoming above 3,000m, especially magnificent view of rhododendrons and Magnolia and the forest grows ever higher, painting the rhododendron and magnolia hillsides like paradise. The spring trekking season makes higher altitude trekking more comfortable and exciting. In spring temperature are mildly warm at lower elevations and there are still quite moderate temperature at higher elevation over 4,000m, which provides spectacular mountains scenery. March and April are often drier than other months, but May has the advantage of more alpine flowers.

Karna, thank you so much for another wonderful trek. This is my 3rd trek with you - the first being the Annapurna Circuit and then a tour of the Everest region, starting at Jiri and then trekking up to Gokyo, going over Cho La, up to Kala Pattar and then up the Chukhung valley. I continue to learn so much about Nepal from you,..........
