Rock Climbing in Nepal

Nepal offers a host of stone walls that make for the experience of a lifetime for those rock climbers. Rock climbing has become a popular sport in Nepal nowadays and offers some really terrific places for climbing. Balaju, Nagarjun, Budhanilkantha, and Shivapuri are some of places where you can try rock climbing in the Kathmandu valley.

Nepal offers some outstanding experiences for climbers. If you don't have much time to take a Himalayan peak during the visit, you can try for rock climbing in spots like the Nagarjun hills or Shivapuri hills. The Shreeban rock climbing nature camp can provide you the enjoying of climbing outside Kathmandu city. You can find more cliffs outside valley as well. Nagarjun is also famous for rock climbing. The best spot is known as the Jamacho hill which lies to the northwest of the Swayambhunnath Stupa. This spot is located inside the Royal Forest and is suitable for both beginners and regulars. The limestone rock is about 12 meters high, and there are several option-equipped routes. This is 3 km from downtown Kathmandu and then walks to the park entrance nearby Balaju. From the Raniban gate, you follow the dirt road to a point just before the army check post where you will come across a track leading to the right. You follow this trail through trees and shrubs for about five minutes, and there lies the huge cliff.

Another exciting rock wall is situated on the slope of Shivapuri hill to the north of Kathmandu. The granite faces here lie scattered about, and the big cliff in the center is equipped with a single route. It lies 9 km away from Kathmandu and you can get there by bus or taxi to Budhailkantha, the shrine of the sleeping Vishnu. Then walk west from the bus stop along the Bishnumati stream through terraced fields and enter the Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife reserve. The cliffs can be seen from a distance, so you won't have much difficulty finding this place. This is my 3rd trek with you - the first being the Annapurna Circuit and then a tour of the Everest region, starting at Jiri and then trekking up to Gokyo, going over Cho La, up to Kala Pattar and then up the Chukhung valley. I continue to learn so much about Nepal from you, Continue
