Makalu Base Camp Trekking

Makulu Base Camp Trekking is a challenging and an outstanding trek in eastern part of Nepal through the remote and unfrequented trekking areas. This Trekking begins at Tumlingtar after 40 munities scenic flight from Kathmandu then heads up the Arun River valley to Sedua and Num; then crossing over Shipton La Pass at elevation of 4210 meters, then into the upper Barun valley and get in Makalu Base Camp (5,250 m). Where you have fascinated Himalaya’s panorama; Chamlang (7,319m), Peak 6 (6,739m), Peak 7 (6,105m). Then the trail goes alpine meadows and at the base of Mt. Makalu reflecting dusk’s light off in the neighboring peaks are much spectacular. From the higher region to the lower rhododendron of oak forest trees are of interesting and contrast to observe. Makalu Base Camp Trek can be drive by bus Kathmandu to Hile and start trek further destination too.

This is complicated trekking, even though, it provides stunning contrasts of high waterfalls cascade into deep gorges, craggy rocks rise from lush green forests, and colorful flowers bloom beneath white snow peaks. Long and unspoiled terrain makes this trek a classic in its own features and rare species of animals, over 3000 species of flowering plants, with hundreds of orchid varieties, 48. Primroses and 25 of Nepal's 30 rhododendrons splash the hillsides with color, 440 species of birds, and 75 species of mammals, including the endangered Clouded Leopard, Red Panda and Musk Deer inhabitance of the Makalu-Barun national park makes your trip unforgettable. They hold the key to the preservation of the unique biological and cultural treasures of the Makalu Barun area. The extraordinary biodiversity is considered to be worldwide significance and provides a living laboratory for international scientific research. Day 01: Fly to Tumlingtar (400m), and Trek to Khadbari (1025m)

Day 02: Trek Khadbari to Chichila (1,800m)

Day 03: Trek Chichile to Num (1,500m)

Day 04: Trek Num to Seduwa (1,493m)

Day 05: Trek Seduwa to Tashi Gaun (2,200m)

Day 06: Trek Tashi Gaun to Kahuma Danda (3,500m)

Day 07: Trek Kahuma Danda to Mumbuk (3,400m)

Day 08: Trek Mumbuk to Nehe Kharka (3,750m)

Day 09: Trek Nehe Kharka to Sherson (4,600m)

Day 10: Free day at Sherson for a day excursion

Day 11: Trek Sherson to Yangri Kharka (3,645m)

Day 12: Trek Yangri Kharka to Mumbuk (3,400m)

Day 13: Trek Mumbuk to Kahuma Danda (3,500m)

Day 14: Trek Kahuma Danda to Navagaun (2,500m) via Tashi Gaun

Day 15: Trek Navagaun to Num via Seduwa

Day 16: Trek Navagaun to Chichila (1,800m)

Day 17: Trek Seduwa to Khadbari (1,025m)

Day 18: Trek Khadbari to Tumlingtar (400m)

Day 19: Fly Tumlingtar to Kathmandu

Day 00: Your own destination.

Note: Some time we could face problem due to flight delayed by few hours or cancelled for a day because of bad weather or road traffic. It is happen very rarely, but it could even in best trekking season also as you know how climate change is effecting our globe and the mountain weather is un predicable. Therefore, we always recommend you to add one supplement night in Kathmandu after your trek if possible (just for incase). If everything runs smoothly, you can enjoy other activities like sightseeing, rafting, shopping, as you wish.


Cost Include

  • Arrival and Departure all transportation (airport to Hotel to airport).
  • Full board meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner) during trek with Tea, coffee each meal in a cup.
  • Kathmandu to Tumlingtar back to Kathmandu Airplane and car/Taxi.
  • Makalu Barun Conservation Area permits Permit Fee.
  • TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) Card.
  • Teahouse Accommodation Twin bed sharing basic entire trip per as available.
  • Warm down Jacket and Sleeping Bag for the trek.
  • Government license holder experienced Local Guide with their food, accommodation, salary, equipments.
  • Porter (between every 2 person basis) Max.20-25 kg. Plus their food, accommodation, salary, equipments
  • One Sherpa (assistance guide) if group size more than 6 people. Plus their food, accommodation, salary and equipments.
  • Duffle Bag during trek and first Aid medical kid.
  • Tourist service charge, vat, Governments Tax and official expanse if necessary.
  • Insurance for all staff.
  • Welcome and Fare well program.

Cost Exclude

  • All kind of beverage including mineral water, Phone calls, laundry, hot shower during Trek.
  • Clients travel Insurance and evacuation (compulsory).
  • Tipping for Guide and Porters.
  • Personal expenses like Shopping, souvenirs or gift.Personal mountaineering gears.
  • Optional trips and sightseeing if extend.
