By Land:

You can get Nepal by overland travel to enter Nepal from both India and Tibet. From Tibet, you can enter Nepal by crossing the border at Kodari. Afterward, take a bus to Kathmandu. This will take you 7 to 12 hours depending on the road conditions. There are several entry points by land route mainly from Nepal / Indian borders; 1, Kakarvita 2, Birgunj 3, Bhairahawa 4, Nepalganj 5, Dhangadhi 6, Mahendranagar 7, Sunauli. Scheduled public as well as tourist buses are run to those places from Kathmandu. If you can cope with long hours ride in return for fascinating views of valleys, mountains and snail-tail roads, travel by bus also very enjoyable. Road trips take longer to reach, can be less expensive if your choice of accommodation and mode of transportations are kept cheap, but it allows you to explore other countries that are linked to Nepal.

The easiest and hassle free overland route to Nepal from India is via Gorakhpur using train and the Sunauli /Belahiya border post. The only direct buses from this route to Kathmandu run at night and take approximately 9 hours. Raxaul/Birgung border post can also be used to visit Nepal. But this may not leave you with a pleasant travelling experience. If you are in Darjeeling you can come to Nepal via Karkabhitta. There are also several border crossings in west Nepal.

Karna, thank you so much for another wonderful trek. This is my 3rd trek with you - the first being the Annapurna Circuit and then a tour of the Everest region, starting at Jiri and then trekking up to Gokyo, going over Cho La, up to Kala Pattar and then up the Chukhung valley. I continue to learn so much about Nepal from you,..........
