Foods on the Trek

On the tea house trek you can expect to get mostly continental and local foods, ordered from the menus. Some tea house you can also get Tibetan, Chinese, Nepalese and even Indian and Italian dishes. The meal is good and always enjoyed by the hungry trekkers. In higher altitudes, you get fewer varieties than in the lower area. Nepal Mother House Treks provide you three meals each day with a cup of tea or coffee. Where as possible we try to provide you fresh vegetables from the village and fresh fruits. During the high altitude treks like the Everest base camp, we advice you do not drink alcohol (you can get beer and whisky even in mountains) until reach your destination. It may increase the chances of altitude sickness. You are allowed to choose the food you like but it is wiser not to order different dishes for each person’s as cooking so many dishes takes a long time and waste of fuel.

Some Tea house does not have sufficient ovens and may be they have only one cook. Making a combined order saves time, especially during lunch time. You can buy bottled water in the mountains but we suggest you to bring water purifiers like iodine or any water purification tools which will help to reduce the pollution in the mountains. For the camping trek we provide you multi-course dishes from starters to deserts by professional cooks. A full set of facilities including kitchen and dining tents, tables and chairs are provided during organize trek.

Karna, thank you so much for another wonderful trek. This is my 3rd trek with you - the first being the Annapurna Circuit and then a tour of the Everest region, starting at Jiri and then trekking up to Gokyo, going over Cho La, up to Kala Pattar and then up the Chukhung valley. I continue to learn so much about Nepal from you,..........
